James C. Swartz

James C. Swartz is a professional Visual Artist working in Toronto.  Urban, rural and industrial landscapes have long been a subject of intrigue for James.  His imagery explores the intricate link between society and nature, combining the raw elements of growth, development, desertion and decay into eloquent, highly expressive visions that find beauty and humanity in the most unlikely of places.  James’ Decay Series examines the beauty in destruction and neglect.  It is a celebration of the artists’ admiration for the unpredictable and inexhaustible record of life.  

James draws inspiration from artists of all periods and from the world around him as he explores the landscape of nature and humanity intimately.

James will be continuing his art and photography studies in the Loire region of France this summer at Paillard Centre d'Art Contemporain & Résidence d'Artistes.
