Biography
Shawn Skeir has been a figure on the Canadian art scene for over two decades. His paintings, murals and drawings can be found in collectors’ homes, buildings, hotels, magazines, advertising, and fashion. He’s gained recognition and representation in Toronto, New York and Los Angeles.
"With this current series I am expressing my newfound appreciation for the potentials of The Landscape; during the period of COVID lockdowns the opportunity for quiet reflection, allowed me the time needed to go through my pre-pandemic travel photographs which brought with it a nostalgia for the spellbinding natural settings and magical vistas I have visited.
My many years of experimentation has led me to discover new frameworks for creative expression through the contrasting potentials of diverse methodologies. My process involves an overlaying and overlapping of various media; often employing underpainting, transparencies and appliqué." - Shawn Skeir
